Public Strategies (PS) is a nationally respected consulting, project management, and marketing firm based in Oklahoma City. We provide innovative solutions for federal, state, and local clients, including project and program management, training and technical assistance, technology, event management, research and evaluation, video production, and strategic communications. Position Summary
The UI/UX Designer will create compelling designs for dynamic, custom web-based platforms for state and federal clients. These platforms are designed to promote online learning, collaboration, and audience-specific data sharing/visualizations. Working in close coordination with the Product Design Lead, Creative Director, Marketing & Communications Department, Data & Technology Department, and other project staff, the UI/UX Designer will provide strong, cohesive visuals for web platforms. In addition, the UI/UX Designer will provide designs and creative contributions for Public Strategies other digital projects, as scheduling permits.
Essential Job Functions
Create concepts, graphics, and layouts that reflect a strong understanding of website and app design best practices
Visually communicate ideas and conceptualize design materials based on client needs and industry standards
Work with the Product Design Lead and key project stakeholders to produce wireframes, design comps, and graphics
Amend graphics as needed following stakeholder feedback
Assure all designs adhere to brand and user experience (UX) standards
Create interactive prototypes from designs
Ensure designs are 508 compliant for online users with disabilities
Ensure final graphics and layouts are functional, visually appealing, and aligned with project objectives and target audiences
Other duties as assigned
Education/Training
Bachelors Degree in UI/UX, Graphic Design, or related field, preferred
Extensive coursework and equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
Required
Experience with UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch and Adobe XD
Experience working in component-based design systems, 8-point grids, and responsive design
One year of experience working in an ad agency or web development company
One year of experience using the most recent version of Adobe Creative Suite
Preferred
Experience writing HTML and CSS
Knowledge of 508 compliance and accessible design best practices
Special Requirements
Exceptional skill and demonstrated expertise in designing for websites and apps
Portfolio of at least ten samples of original graphic design work (published or coursework)
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Outstanding organizational, communication, and creative problem-solving abilities
Ability to accept and apply constructive criticism
Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Ability to work well independently and with others
Essential Physical Requirements
Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
