Public Strategies (PS) is a nationally respected consulting, project management, and marketing firm based in Oklahoma City. We provide innovative solutions for federal, state, and local clients, including project and program management, training and technical assistance, technology, event management, research and evaluation, video production, and strategic communications. We also deliver research-informed direct services to financially vulnerable Oklahomans, with a focus on strengthening families and improving employment opportunities.

Under the guidance of the Vice President of Strategic Communications, the Graphic Design Manager oversees the creation and implementation of graphics to meet project or promotional needs for Public Strategies and its clients. The Graphic Design Manager must be able to communicate and uphold branding standards to help their design team create effective and visually compelling pieces across an array of print and digital media. In addition, the position is key in ensuring timely production of visual products that support strategic communications goals.

Essential Job Functions
Assess design needs across diverse clients, prioritize deliverables, assign projects to graphic designers, and manage design workflow
Help guide the development of high caliber design projects, working closely with designers to ensure brand alignment and strong visual execution
Effectively articulate creative vision for a project while remaining open to receiving feedback from team and clients and adjusting as needed
Provide visual problem-solving insights and constructive feedback to designers
Create, implement, and manage processes that drive effectiveness among the design team
Manage and track the capacity of the graphic design team, proactively responding to spare capacity or overallocations, and engaging occasional part-time designers as needed
Step in to directly produce graphic design products as capacity allows or circumstances require
Provide strong visual leadership to an array of product types, including infographics, logos, brand identity, print materials, digital communications, motion graphics, web graphics, etc.
Supply guidance and support with print production and packaging
Visually communicate ideas and conceptualize design materials based on varying client needs and industry standards
Able to adapt to new or changing projects, systems, and technologies
Actively participate in strategic planning to help develop project timelines and budgets for graphic design activities, providing work estimates for graphic design work, and related expenses
Fosters a culture of teamwork, excellence, client responsiveness, and respect
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field, preferred
Extensive coursework and equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Five or more years of experience working in an in-house marketing department, an advertising agency, or a design firm
Video editing and motion graphics experience (Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, etc.), preferred
Five years of graphic design experience producing and managing print and digital creative, from conception to fruition
Three to five years’ experience managing creative teams
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio of work
Skilled at producing innovative design solutions with high visual impact
Proficient in MS Office
Portfolio of at least ten samples of original graphic design work (published or coursework)
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Outstanding design and management skills
Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from peers and clients
Ability to work well independently and with others
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Familiarity with visual communication techniques used on popular social media channels
Experience with creating and maintaining websites
Video editing and motion graphics skills preferred (Adobe After Effect, Final Cut Pro, etc.)
UI/UX experience preferred
Human-centered design experience preferred
Must be willing and able to work in an office environment, but also able to work virtually with off-site clients and contractors.
Essential Physical Requirements
Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
