Close your eyes. Picture a creative. Did you picture someone in a hoodie? Do they roll their eyes as they critique your kerning and get really annoyed when you have a question? Do they avoid client meetings and pitches at all cost? Open your eyes. That’s not what success looks like anymore.
Sonni Adams is a woman in a traditionally man’s world. She’s a designer who doesn’t much care for the traditional designer. In the last several years, she’s gone from junior art director to creative director, but she’s still the same Sonni she’s always been: She says yes when others say no, she is disciplined and patient when others are lazy or sloppy, and she’s kind when others are jerks.
Let’s explore what this industry could be if we stopped being cutthroat and opted for kindness instead.
