Q: What is your current job and what do you enjoy most about it?
I serve as the Vice President and lead presenter for Hudson and Associates Consulting. The firm is an energetic and accomplished collection of subject matter experts providing solutions, resources, and tools in a variety of management fields. My emphasis in consulting is in education marketing. I also serve as Adjunct Faculty at Southern Nazarene University, I instruct various courses in the MBA and MSM programs. My greatest enjoyment comes in working with various teams of marketers creating strategy and developing tactics. I find a great deal of excitement in connecting “makers” for the process of conception, bringing to life, and deployment of great marketing.
Q: What about marketing
I am an old “ad guy”. Marketing creates the space to do more than just advertising. Marketing allows for communications in all forms to work together as a cohesive and relevant whole.
Q: How long have you been a member of AMA and why did you join?
I just joined in 2017. Again, I have been a member of the ad community through
You’re on the planning committee for the 2019 AMA Higher Education Marketing Symposium. Can you provide some insight into what to expect at this event and the benefits of attending
The Symposium brings together experts and practitioners to explore the unique challenges faced by marketing teams at colleges and universities. The event features leading higher education marketers, focused on best practices and fresh ideas for engaging diverse audiences, navigating tricky social changes, building strong teams, strengthening an institution’s brand, and more
Q: Why do you feel it’s important to stay up-to-date with new practices and tactics in the marketing world and how does it relate to your job?

This allows us to gain insight we would likely otherwise miss. One of the best execution of this is a Marketing Advisory Board I created while working with SNU. The board is comprised of SNU alumni currently working in the marketing field. The Advisory Board provides the outside vision necessary to ensure
Q: You’ve been heavily involved in the community by serving on a number of committees. What values have you taken from those experiences?
The breadth of service gives me insight; having the opportunity to participate in various organizations on committees and task force assignments has simply expanded my horizon. Dr. Martin Luther King said, “We may have all come on different ships, but we are all in the same boat now.” This clearly tells me we have to know each other to understand each other; value comes in working together for the common good.
Q: What is the best piece of business advice that you’ve ever been given?
Listen more; talk less … very challenging for an extravert like me.
Q: Do you have a favorite marketing publication that you would recommend?
How about a podcast … Malcolm Gladwell – Revisionist History or his book, “The Tipping Point”.
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
